UAAP Season 87 opened at the Araneta Coliseum on September 7, 2024 with an orchestra, parade of athletes, speeches, and a game opener. The UP Fighting Maroons took on the Ateneo Blue Eagles and dominated with a score of 77-61 . Here is a video of that game.
